What I do: I run a group of five people. Going by our Group name, you can see that we specialise in the design and development of low usage or single use parts and products.  This covers a wide range of development projects from disposable medical devices to fast moving consumer goods packaging.  Nevertheless, our projects are not confined to this area and recently we have been spending a great deal of time developing a new thin film electroluminescent display, more suitable for durable products than disposables.

My favourite projects: Since working at CCL, I have been encouraged to develop some of my own concepts and present them to potential clients. In cases where my ideas have been original, I have been encouraged to make patent applications. Some of my favorite projects are those where I have had a big input early on. However, my favourite project must rank as the one which I am currently most involved:  the development of a new type of thin Electroluminescent Display technology, and associated manufacturing capability.

Who I work with: I work closely with electronic designers and software developers. Within my group I have a Senior Materials Engineer, a Mechanical Engineer, a Consultant and an Industrial Designer. Why I enjoy my job: In my heart I am an inventor, and CCL gives me the opportunity to invent.  However, I also love the science of invention and the realisation of ideas. With the right team around you and enough energy, it is possible to see many ideas slowly come to fruition, this is what I enjoy about my job.

What I studied:  1st Class Hons BEng: Biomedical Materials Science and Engineering
