The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining

The Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining exists to promote and develop all aspects of Materials Science and Engineering as the leading authority in the world wide materials community.

Through its Schools Affiliate Scheme, the Institute assists with the teaching of materials science and engineering in Britain’s schools.

We promote Materials Science by:

Assisting teachers and their pupils to become more
knowledgeable about developments in Materials

Supporting science and technology teachers to deliver
    materials aspects of the National Curriculum and post 16 courses

Providing opportunities for schools to establish links with members in industry

Developing and delivering specialist teaching resources to enable teachers to extend their coverage of materials within the curriculum

Raising awareness of the wide range of career opportunities available to Materials Scientists and Engineers

Transmitting to pupils the excitement of working with materials
